How to Fight Spring Allergies

by | Apr 16, 2016 | Blog

Spring is prime time for allergens as trees and grasses begin to sprout around the Savannah, Georgia, area. If you’re suffering from telltale symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes, then seasonal allergies are probably to blame. With the right strategies, you can battle the discomfort of allergies and keep your air breathable and clean.

Use Your Air Conditioner

If you’re suffering from allergies, resist the urge to throw open the windows for a fresh spring breeze. Unfortunately, outside air brings with it a host of irritants — including pollen from local trees, weeds, and grasses. Use your air conditioner instead. Make sure you have a clean filter in the HVAC system to capture as many irritants as possible and mark your calendar to change the filter once a month to minimize allergy symptoms.

Install an Air Purifier

When standard air conditioning just isn’t enough to keep your air allergen-free, it’s time to consider an air purifier. This appliance fits right into your HVAC system, providing an additional layer of filtration. A solution like the Performance Air Purifier PGAP will eliminate up to 75 percent of organisms down to 0.30 microns in size. The Infinity Air Purifier GAPA eliminates as much as 95 percent of these pathogens.

Control Moisture

Mold is another common culprit when it comes to allergies. If your symptoms aren’t confined to the spring season, mold is a likely cause. Mold spores can cause the symptoms of hay fever and even trigger asthma attacks. Install a dehumidifier to keep moisture levels under control, and check frequently for any signs of mold and mildew growth, particularly in damp areas like the kitchen or bathroom.

If you’re struggling with spring allergies, take steps now to keep your air as clean and breathable as possible. With the right installations, you can enjoy fresh, breathable air in any season.
